Founded in 1900, Bloom High School has been instrumental in shaping history in Chicagoland and throughout the United States for 125 years. Bloom was named to the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1982 as an outstanding example of public art deco architecture. The interior entry includes a remarkable set of wall frescoes by the American artist Edgar Britton. The two limestone sculptures outside were designed by Curtis Drewes, and the amazing library contains a large globe made by the Weber Costello Company for our 32nd president Franklin Roosevelt.
To help commemorate Bloom's 125 Anniversary, The Foundation is teaming up with Michael Boswell '84 to author a Bloom Architecture Book capturing details of the art deco themed school with photos from when it was built in 1931 through current times.
